Summary

Currently looking for a Solutions Architect. You will be a well-rounded individual with maturity, vision, and a depth of experience that allows for grasping issues quickly and making educated, critical judgments in the absence of complete information.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Providing technical architectural designs, solutions, reviews for major business application and technology initiatives focusing on high volume high complex online systems (i.e. J2EE, Web Services, Websphere, Internet Protocols, and Security standards). This includes all aspects of the solution (from a systems perspective) involved in the delivery of highly-complex initiatives with complex integration needs across multiple technologies to business clients. Activities will include defining development specifications, technical requirements system performance objectives and identifying system modifications to meet objectives.
  • With respect to environmental analysis and oversight, from a project to project basis, to perform reviews on the processing environment to ensure that the solutions deployed are scalable and will fulfill the business requirements. This includes processing capacity application security, system/database capacity, and performance. This also applies to monitor, analyze and manage Performance and Capacity of the system on daily basis. Present analytic result and upgrade plan to Director, Enterprise Architect and other Information Technology & Solutions (IT&S) Solutions Architects on all systems supported.
  • Manage system availability and disaster recovery plan.
  • Develop roadmaps and strategies for applications based on enterprise infrastructure blueprint. Liaise with Senior Solutions Architects as well as the IT&S Enterprise Architecture Office strategy and direction on architecture and application design
  • Presenting work for review in structured walkthrough presentations of application systems to/with project team members and users during various stages of the development process.
  • Providing consultation on all infrastructure related items while participating in all phases of the project development lifecycle.
  • Conducting design review and code walkthrough; mentoring and coaching other team members on technical best practice.
  • Assisting in the analysis of system test strategies, and the execution of the tests (including unit, QA and non-functional).
  • Investigating, analyzing and resolving system problems during standard working hours and assigned on-call hours.
  • Assist in the most difficult support problems.
  • Escalating and/or reporting system problems to management as per the documented escalation procedure.
  • Continues to research and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and recommends the possible application to the business and senior management.
  • Leads selected technology projects to production.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 6 to 8 years’ experience as a Solutions Architect
  • Must possess expert knowledge of web-based information technology principles, J2EE framework, database integration, system integration, methodologies and standards/metrics.
  • Must have hands-on technical working experience in the system analysis, design, architecture of complex, multi-tier development & production environments.
  • Understanding of and experience in Telco domain, understand network platform VPN technology, network elements, DSL, managed services
  • Must have working experience in a technical environment that utilized Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience on TMF SID model – System integration tech data push/data pull
  • Strong software development experience – data repository, data life cycle management. UML and integration between data model and functional model
  • Must have strong software development experience with J2EE and with Rational development and modeling tools.
  • Must have strong knowledge of WebSphere Application Server.
  • Must have strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Hub and Spoke, Messaging, etc.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Web Services, Web Services Description Language (WSDL) and SOAP, Java API for XML Web Services (JAX-WS).
  • Must be flexible and ready to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal/written/presentation).
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
  • Knowledge of XML schemas and data models; File Transfer Protocol (FTP)/Secured File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) processes; SQL & DB2 stored procedures; Host (Mainframe) systems & Pega Systems are desirable assets.
  • Demonstrated experience with SSL and HTTPS protocols are desirable assets.
  • Proven experience with UNIX command and shell programming are desirable assets
  • 5+ years in-depth experience with understanding business models, visions and processes and translating them into technical architectures
  • Strong communication skills – Ability to create material and communicate to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills – the ability to visualize, analyze, articulate and solve complex problems.

Good to have skills

  • Experience in MDM based skillset, background data modeling, metadata model and real data model and product bundling.

Currently looking for Business Systems Analyst to work in a consulting environment, dealing with various software development projects.  You will be a well-rounded individual with maturity, vision, and a depth of experience that allows for grasping issues quickly and making educated, critical judgements in the absence of complete information.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate as the lead solutions architect for technical proposals and assessments. Work with other solution architects, SMEs, and consultants to author content for proposals that address the requirements, instructions and evaluation criteria set forth by customers in the RFPs.
  • Develops a solution architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios, tools, processes, and motivations.
  • Partners with key business stakeholders to develop future state vision, architectural roadmap (process and technology).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and improving business service capability and end-to-end processes.
  • Experience leveraging industry standard methodologies in the areas of Business Architecture, Business Process Management, Continuous Improvement, Business Process Outsourcing and Change Management.
  • Expertise in a variety of modeling techniques to capture process, business rules, requirements, information flow, etc. Examples include BPMN process models, use cases, class diagrams, state diagrams, fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Present and communicate complex problems and recommended solutions to diverse audiences and executives.
  • Experience base-lining and quantifying current state business problems as well as constructing cost/benefit based solution recommendations.
  • Ability to envision future state business services/processes and to construct roadmaps representing an evolution from current to future state.

Summary: 

The ideal candidate can see the big picture from both a technical and business perspective, leadership skills to motivate the team, and the foresight to help strategize and drive the team in delivering corporate objectives. Working closely with product owners, the Portal Development Lead will be responsible for the design and implementation of the solution to meet business objectives as well as research and assess emerging technologies and techniques for the application.

This role will be an expert resource in the exchange of technical information for project teams and provides technical insight and recommendations to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing new products based on customer requirements
  • Lead application architecture/design sessions collecting input from the development team and having accountability for the overall solution
  • Manage application development from initial inception of ideas to delivery including technical design and coding standards
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance
  • Ensure that team and work priorities are identified and that work assignments are appropriately delegated to meet deadlines, service levels and goals within an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Review and ensure all developed designs are sound, scalable and maintainable
  • Create and maintain source code that interacts with an RDBMS
  • Create and modify code and software
  • Create and modify screens and reports
  • Lead application support activities in order to resolve incidents and identify root causes
  • Lead requirements review and technical design sessions providing technical guidance to developers
  • Orchestrating test strategies for unit and integration testing

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in computer science, business administration, information systems or other related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in IT or business environment
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience architecting and building Microsoft web solutions for a multi-tenant architecture.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience working in a web-based service-oriented architecture
  • A minimum of 5 years experience managing teams to deliver complex applications, including 3 years relevant experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • A minimum of 3 years experience with software development best practices, including coding standards and code reviews
  • Must currently hold, or be eligible for, Government of Canada Secret Clearance. The Resource must maintain this level for the duration of employment.
  • Expert in All Microsoft technologies (.NET, SQL)
  • Possesses analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Possesses the ability to contribute to strategic vision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Possesses expert communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possesses advanced skills in managing and optimizing an Operations-focused team

  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented development principles
  • Possesses strong technical knowledge in the areas of problem-solving and trouble-shooting (ie debugging)
  • Experience with source control management, tools, build processes, testing, and operations. Solid understanding of TFS is required, additional tools will be considered an asset
  • Experienced in implementing software “best practices”, championing, and promoting processes and new technology as appropriate
  • Experienced application development on the ASP.NET platform utilizing most of the following:
    • ASP .NET MVC (version 4 or more recent);
    • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) (version 3 or more recent); and
    • AJAX, (Must-have)
  • English essential, French will be considered an asset.
